ONLINE COURSE
Why we hurt each other, and how to stop.
Lifetime access
The course is live. Start free with the Pre-Module and Module 1 — no card needed.
By the end, you will understand him enough to stop carrying him, and understand yourself enough to stop choosing the pattern again.
What this could look like
Imagine waking up next to a man who is the same man who fell asleep beside you. No second face waiting in the morning. No mood you have to read before you put your feet on the floor.
Imagine being seen, actually seen, by someone who is not waiting for the version of you that is easier to manage. Someone whose attention does not have to be earned, performed for, or kept warm by you alone.
Imagine growing alongside a partner who is not threatened by the woman you are becoming. Who is glad when you take the new job. Who is glad when you go on the women’s retreat. Who is glad when you change your mind.
Imagine being held without paying for the holding later. Disagreeing without bracing. Speaking without managing how he is going to receive your speaking. Resting without scanning the room.
What keeps happening instead
You left the one who hurt you. You spent months, sometimes years, putting yourself back together. You promised yourself, out loud or in your head, that you were done with that pattern.
Then you met someone new. The first weeks felt familiar in the best way. Chosen. Pursued. Lit up. And then, slowly, something started to shift. A version of the man you left began, quietly, to walk back into the room.
Or, worse in some ways, you met someone who was actually safe. Steady. Present. Not making you chase. And your body read him as nothing. As flat. As no spark. You friend-zoned him before you could stop yourself.
And it is not because you didn’t try. It is not because you are stupid, or weak, or addicted to drama. It is because your nervous system, your patterns, and the version of love you were trained to recognise are doing something nobody has taught you how to interrupt.
The cost of the cycle
The pain is not just the relationships. It is the recognition. The slow dawning that you keep ending up in the same room, with a different person, having the same fight.
It is the hollowness on a Tuesday night when you wonder if you are the problem. The exhaustion of explaining yourself, again, to someone who needs the explanation more than they need you. The grief of years you cannot get back.
It is the way your body has stopped trusting itself. The way you cannot tell anymore whether what you are feeling is intuition or trauma. The way safety, when it shows up, feels like a trap.
You can. But not by trying harder inside the pattern, and not by carrying any more of what was never yours to carry in the first place. The pattern has to be seen, named, and stepped out of. By both of you. That is what this course is for.
Who is telling you this
My name is Devon. I am a recovering narcissist.
For most of my adult life, I was the man on the other side of the dynamic you have lived. Not with fists. With silence. With charm that hid contempt. With love that ran hot one week and cold the next. With the slow theft of a woman’s reality.
I had to see it. I had to lose what the pattern was protecting in me. I had to do the work consistently, when no one was watching, for years, before the woman I love now could feel safe enough beside me to stomp in puddles, pick dandelions, laugh from her belly the way she did when she was a little girl.
This course is what I learned along the way. Not as theory. As the daily practice that made the difference between the man I was and the man she can rest beside.
The book the course is built on
The book is in Exclusive Books and Takealot across South Africa, on Amazon internationally, and available as a signed paperback direct from this site. It has been picked up by readers, therapists, and the women I built the course for.
The course is what comes next, the walkable version of the book, structured into a month of practice, with the 96-page workbook that turns the reading into doing.

As heard on
Sara-Jayne Makwala King sits down with Devon on CapeTalk’s Weekend Breakfast. The story behind the book, the pattern, and the work of becoming someone different.
Listen to the full interviewWhat this course gives you that nothing else can
This course is taught by a man who was the kind of man your ex was. A man who is now several years into the slow work of becoming someone different. Not a therapist describing the pattern. The man telling you what was happening underneath.
Most courses in this space frame the dynamic as predator and prey. Get out. Heal. Don’t look back. This course holds something more complicated, and more useful. Both of you carried wounds into the relationship, and the wounds locked together. The harm was his. The pattern was both of yours. The harm we cannot undo. The pattern we can stop running.
I will say on camera what therapists coaching women cannot say without being torn apart online, that you have a pattern too, and seeing it is not blame. It is the only door out. I can say it because I was the man. I have standing nobody else has.
The course closes with an apology I deliver, on behalf of the man who hurt you, for the harm done to women like you. It is not theatre. It is not a marketing device. It is the apology your own ex probably will never give you, given to you by a man who can finally give it.
The full curriculum
Plus a 96-page workbook designed for the next ninety days.
Approx. 8 to 10 min
Who I am, what the word “narcissist” means in this course (and what it doesn’t), and the promise I make to you up front: this course will never ask you to take responsibility for what was done to you.
Approx. 24 to 28 min
The four things you need to hear before anything else. The question you have been carrying, finally answered honestly, without flattening it.
Approx. 35 to 40 min
The night I hit my mother at fifteen. What it taught me. The wounded masculine and wounded feminine, the architecture of the wound underneath the man.
Approx. 36 to 42 min
The curated love. Sex as regulation. Disorganised attachment. The bathroom story, the moment that explains how the same man could have done both. Plus a beat from my current life as evidence that the wound is not eternal: today I can go weeks with my partner without sex and still feel close to her.
Approx. 34 to 38 min
The shame. The two assaults. Sex as exorcism. The hidden patterns, the validation network of “female friends who earned their place,” the damsel-in-distress dynamic, the hoovering, the constant low-grade contact. A surgical address to any man watching, and then back to you. And, woven through, a sentence I had to learn slowly: drug use is not consent. Intoxication is not consent.
Approx. 40 to 44 min
The pivot. The camera turns toward you, gently. Four father-wound archetypes and four mother-wound archetypes on camera, with eight more of each named on camera (full descriptions in the workbook). When did you first feel the way he made you feel?
Approx. 35 to 40 min
Why you stayed. The fawn response. The hope architecture. Why your body is still tuned to him, and what to do about that.
Approx. 34 to 39 min
The mutual pattern, named openly. Five ways his wound and yours locked together. The line that ends the self-blame and the cycle at the same time:
Approx. 29 to 34 min
Your shield. Seven markers of real change versus performed change, observed from inside the work, not asserted as a clinical test. So you know what to look for when it shows up, and what to walk away from when it doesn’t.
Approx. 50 min total · delivered in two parts
The work of letting go of who you were inside the relationship, and the work of becoming someone the next decade of your life can be built around. Delivered in two parts so you can sit with it. You leave with a vision and one concrete action for the week ahead.
Approx. 12 to 15 min
Different from any other module. I will tell you why when you arrive there.
The companion workbook
Every module references specific pages. The workbook holds the deepest exercises, the lock-and-key map, the letter to the shadow, the seven-step worksheets, the integration journal templates for after the course. Available as a downloadable PDF and as a printed book.
Who is building this for you
I am a South African author, speaker, and facilitator. I have written Get OVA It! (2021) and The Reluctant Narcissist (2025). My work has been used by Vodacom, MTN, Discovery, and BMW. I am not a clinician. I am not a therapist. I am the man this course describes, a man who hurt women, and who has spent years doing the slow work of becoming someone different.
This course is built from the depth of The Reluctant Narcissist book, brought into walkable form for the woman who has read it (or the 25 Red Flags PDF) and is ready to do something with what she now sees.
What others have said
Readers with the book
This is Devon taking responsibility for, and ownership of, his actions, and revealing them in all their ugliness to create something truly unique, a handbook of what NOT to do and the lessons he has learnt to take him forward, and his readers and followers as well.Sam Cowen
Devon distils profound insights from his inspirational story of transformation. In doing so he affirms the human struggle, making us feel less alone and revealing the wisdom in our wounds.Justin Cohen, author of Winning With Relationships

Before you close this tab
Years of relationships that started full of light and ended in the same conversation. The friends who stopped asking. The version of yourself you used to be, before you learned to brace. The Tuesday nights you would rather forget. The man who was safe, who you walked past because he didn’t make your nervous system feel anything.
None of that has a price tag. All of it has been the cost.
R1,999, once, for lifetime access. The price of doing nothing is the one that compounds.
The questions you might be asking
Yes, it’s live. Watch the free Pre-Module and Module 1 straight away, then unlock the rest whenever you’re ready. Lifetime access.

No. I am not a clinician. The course is education and recognition, it is not a substitute for therapy, especially if you are in active distress. The workbook contains a resources page with crisis lines and therapy directories. If you are in immediate danger, please reach out to a professional before working with the course.
The course is built for the woman recovering from a relationship with a narcissistic man. That is the primary audience. There is a brief, deliberate moment in Module 3B where I address any man watching. The course is welcoming to him, with the understanding that the content is oriented toward you.
The course is built for women in many states of recovery, weeks out, months out, years out, or still inside the relationship and beginning to recognise the pattern. The course is welcoming to all of these. However, it is education, not crisis support. If you are currently in immediate danger, please reach out to a professional first. The course will be here when you are ready.
Around five and a half hours of video content. Most people watch one module per week, working through the workbook between sessions, so a typical timeline is 8 to 12 weeks. Some move faster. Some take six months. You set the pace.
I’m South African, my business runs in ZAR, and the South African payment rails work natively in Rand. A USD option is coming later. For now, the price is ZAR, and at the current rate, R1,999 is a fair price for international buyers too.
Why I am building this
I am building this course because I had to live it. I wrote the book because I had to write it. I am opening the founder cohort early because I want the woman who has spent years inside this pattern to get the first seat at the table when the door opens.
If something in you has been quietly waiting for the version of love I described at the top of this page, the man who stays the same when the door closes, the partner who is glad when you grow, the Wednesday that means rest instead of bracing, this is the room where the work for that begins.
By the end, you will understand him enough to stop carrying him, and understand yourself enough to stop choosing the pattern again.
