1. Who you are dealing with
These Terms govern your use of devonbrough.com and any products purchased through it. The site is operated by Inspired Purpose Pty Ltd, a South African company trading as Devon Brough (“we,” “us,” “our”).
By visiting the site or purchasing any product, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
2. What you can purchase
We currently offer:
- The Reluctant Narcissist online course — eleven video modules, accompanying workbook, and somatic practice recordings. Sold for a one-time fee of R7,500.
- The Mirror Course — a paid, anonymous gift product priced at R1,999. The sender pays at checkout; the recipient receives the gift at no cost, with no account, login, or follow-up.
3. Payment processing
All paid purchases are transacted in South African rand (ZAR). At checkout you may pay through either of two gateways — your choice:
- PayFast
- Paystack (a Stripe company)
Each gateway handles card processing; Inspired Purpose Pty Ltd is the seller of record. The gateway’s terms apply to the payment transaction; ours apply to your use of the product.
We do not see or store your credit card information.
4. Your access to the course
When you purchase the course, you receive a license to access the video lessons, workbook, and somatic recordings for your personal, non-commercial use.
Your license includes:
- Watching the course videos on any of your personal devices
- Downloading the workbook for your own use
- Returning to the course content for as long as we offer it (currently lifetime access — see Section 9 for the limits of this commitment)
Your license does NOT include:
- Sharing your login credentials with other people
- Downloading, screen-recording, or otherwise copying the video content
- Reuploading any part of the course to YouTube, social media, file-sharing services, or any other public or private channel
- Using the course content to train AI models
- Reselling, sublicensing, or distributing the course or any part of it
- Using the content in commercial settings (group screenings, professional training, coaching products) without separate written permission
Breach of these license terms is grounds for revocation of your access without refund.
5. Refund policy
We offer a 14-day full refund on The Reluctant Narcissist course, no questions asked.
The Mirror Course refund follows the same 14-day window, with one caveat: once the recipient has opened the gift, the gift is theirs to keep and refunds are no longer possible. Full Mirror Course refund details are set out in our Refund Policy.
This contractual refund does not limit any rights you may have under South African law, including rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 and, where applicable, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002.
To request a refund:
- Email hello@devonbrough.com within 14 days of your purchase date
- Include the email address used at purchase
- We will process the refund through the original payment gateway — PayFast or Paystack, whichever was used at checkout — within 5 business days
After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion and generally not granted, except in cases of technical failure where we cannot deliver the product.
If a refund is processed, your access to the course is automatically revoked.
5A. Statutory cooling-off for electronic transactions. If the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 applies to your purchase, you may cancel the transaction within seven (7) days of receipt of the product or access credentials, without reason and without penalty, by notifying us in writing. If you validly cancel under the Act, we will refund you in full within 30 days of receiving your notice and revoke your access to the course.
6. The Mirror Course
The Mirror Course is a paid gift at R1,999 sent from one person to another. The following terms apply:
For senders:
- We collect your email address only to send you delivery confirmation. We never share your identity with the recipient. We never market to you on the basis of having used this feature.
- You are responsible for ensuring the recipient’s email address is correct. We are not responsible for delivery to an incorrect address.
- You may not use this feature to harass, intimidate, or send unwanted contact to anyone. Repeated abuse-flagged sends will result in IP-level blocking.
For recipients:
- The Mirror Course is sent to you because someone in your life chose to send it. We have not selected you, marketed to you, or shared your information.
- You will receive ONE email — the delivery email — and never another from us, unless you actively contact us.
- We do not track whether you open the course, watch it, or finish it. This is by design.
- You may delete your record entirely by clicking the link in the delivery email.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site or course content for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, our systems, or other users’ accounts
- Use automated tools to scrape, copy, or download course content
- Misuse the Mirror Course gifting feature (see Section 6)
- Impersonate any other person on the site or in communications with us
We reserve the right to revoke access for any user who breaches these terms.
8. Disclaimer — this is educational, not therapeutic
The Reluctant Narcissist course and the Mirror Course are educational products, not psychological treatment, therapy, or medical advice. The materials are based on the author’s personal experience, research, and reflection — not on clinical practice.
Nothing in our products is a substitute for professional mental health support. If you are in crisis, experiencing significant mental health symptoms, or in an unsafe relationship, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services.

9. Limits of our commitment
We intend to provide lifetime access to the course for buyers. “Lifetime” means the operational lifetime of the product. If we discontinue the course entirely, we will provide buyers at least 90 days notice and a final opportunity to download the materials.
We do not guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, that all features will work perfectly at all times, or that any specific outcome will result from taking the course.
10. Intellectual property
All content on the site — videos, audio, written materials, designs, branding, and code — is the property of Devon Brough or used under license. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any of it without prior written permission.
The phrase “The Reluctant Narcissist” and the associated brand identity are protected by relevant trademark and copyright law.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful, including liability under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, for goods or services not of the quality reasonably expected.
To the extent permitted by law, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the product. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site or products.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved in South African courts of competent jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer protection law in your country requires otherwise.
13. Notices and domicilium
Our chosen domicilium citandi et executandi for all purposes under these Terms is the street address listed in Section 16 (Contact). You agree that we may send legal notices to you by email to the address associated with your account or purchase.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “last updated” date will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated to buyers by email. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you are a consumer, you may have the right to refer disputes to an alternative dispute resolution body under applicable consumer law. Nothing in this section limits any statutory right to approach a court or tribunal.
15. PAIA Manual
Inspired Purpose Pty Ltd has compiled a Manual under Section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000. A copy is available as a free electronic download: Download the PAIA Manual (PDF). Hard copies are available for inspection at our principal place of business by appointment.
