I'm not here to teach perfection.
The story
I’m Devon Brough. Author, speaker, facilitator — and someone who has spent his adult life learning, often the hard way, that the patterns running my life were always closer than the circumstances I was blaming.
By my late twenties I had built a business doing tens of millions in revenue and was deep in active addiction. By 2016, after a six-day binge that nearly killed me, my brother walked into the room I was in and I said the words I had been avoiding for years: I need help.
That was the first awakening. Sobriety. Therapy. Building. Writing the first book. Speaking. Being asked back. By 2024 I had nine years sober, a thriving practice, two books out, an audience that trusted me — and a creeping awareness that something was off.
- You were the common denominator in your chaos — and that means you can be the solution.
The drugs were gone. The patterns weren’t. I was still performing, still validating, still controlling — just in cleaner ways. Still hurting people who loved me. Still hiding parts of myself, even from the people closest to me.
In late 2024 I made a decision that no marketing plan would ever recommend: I stepped back from running workshops for almost a year. Not because the work wasn’t valid — it was — but because I couldn’t stand on a stage teaching radical ownership while ignoring patterns I was actively living.
I needed to do the work I was teaching. So I did.
Six months of slow, deliberate cleanup. Not a redemption arc. A reckoning. Cutting the patterns that were running me. Rebuilding the parts of my life that had been hollow. Learning, finally, what it actually looks like to live the work.
This is the version of Devon you’re meeting now. Sober. Honest. More careful. Slower to claim and quicker to own. Still imperfect — still in the work. But standing on something real.
Everything I share comes from that place. Not the polished version of recovery. The actual version.
You are not stuck because of your past — you are stuck because patterns you haven't seen.
Three ways to do the work.
Two books. A series of workshops. Keynotes for organisations and audiences who want substance over hype. All of it points the same direction — pattern awareness, radical ownership, conscious creation.
Your past may explain you. Your future is your responsibility.
The work is grounded. So is the proof.
“This is Devon taking responsibility for, and ownership of, his actions, and revealing them in all their ugliness to create something truly unique — a handbook of what NOT to do, and the lessons he has learnt.”

Energy is Everything
You cannot build a future on love while holding onto resentment, guilt and shame.
Start here.
These books are not about fixing yourself or blaming the past. They are about seeing clearly, taking ownership, and building a life that feels honest, aligned, and fully lived.
Get OVA It!
Get OVA It! is for anyone who feels stuck — emotionally drained, weighed down by the past, or unsure how to move forward — yet knows they’re capable of more.
At its core, it teaches a simple three-step process: take ownership of your life, create a vision that excites you, and back it up with consistent action.
It’s practical. It’s grounded. And it’s built on a simple truth: your past may explain you — but it doesn’t get to define what happens next.
The Reluctant Narcissist
This is not a book about diagnosing other people. It’s a book about turning the mirror inward.
Devon explores how unresolved wounds can quietly show up as control, validation-seeking, and emotional harm — even after success, sobriety, or personal growth.
This is a deeper layer of the work. A book about honesty. A book about responsibility. A book about becoming emotionally safe — for yourself and for the people who love you.
